Hi everyone! How’s everyone enjoying the event so far? Today, I have Aja Graves gracing the event. With her eccentric and sensual novels, she has become one of the most sought after authors in African-American Women’s Fiction. She is definitely unique and she knows how to bring her characters to life through each of her stories. If you haven’t read any of her books, then you definitely should.
Now, here’s Aja! 🙂
Aja is the writer of sensually erotic women’s fiction. Her stories allow readers to experience realistic, inspiring and soulful interactions between her characters and intense passion between couples overcoming life’s challenges.
Raised as an only child, using her imagination to create stories came naturally to her. Writing her first book in the first grade encouraged her doting and supportive mother to enter her into writing contests to help her hone her craft. Inspired by soulful music and sensual art, she crafts her stories on a whim, using the snatches of time her characters grace her with and stringing them together for completion. She loves prose but has been known to be poetic which can be found, if looking, in some of her published work.
With two published series of books already, including the Unexpected series penned with Roy Glenn, she is working on several projects including Love’s Required and a collaborative project with Angelia Vernon Menchan titled Love Stages.
When she’s not writing, reading and most importantly, loving her family, she is looking for a beautiful beach to watch sunrises, sunsets and listen to the ebb and flow of the remarkable waves. For more information about Aja and her work you can reach out to her by email at ajathewriter@yahoo.com or on her blog ajathewriter.com or you can follow her on social media at facebook.com/aja.thewriter .

Excerpt from Breaking Her Rules:
Savanah knew she had the kind of luck that this would happen. She would be the woman that would sleep with a man for no frills sex and end up having said man, report to her a week later. She kept her carefully pasted smile on her face as she walked through the labyrinth of halls and cubes that led to her corner office that overlooked the Allegheny River. But once she got inside, she shut the door and leaned against it with a thud.
How stupid could you be, Savanah?
She had the answer.
Very stupid.
Her penchant for seeking freedom in even the most inconvenient of places was what landed her here at Creative Grounds. Troy was the Vice President of Marketing at KTG Marketing. She didn’t report to him per say but he had the type of influence that could get her pushed up a few steps in the corporate ladder. The thing was, she thought of none of this when she allowed him to take her home to her condo near Miracle Mile. No, she was thinking about how hard his dick had felt when they were dancing at the
Christmas party. And how his tongue felt on her neck when they started to leave the party and was feeling each other up in the coatroom. That’s all she had been thinking about.
But after she took care of his needs that night, he started to court her and she told him that she wanted none of it. Within a month, she was being offered a promotion to Marketing Lead, skipping over two other people she knew were vetted for the position. So she planned to turn it down. Too bad a few people saw their frisky behavior at the party and decided that Savanah was sleeping her way to the top. Her only choice to
save some reputation was to leave the company, find a new job which happened to be here; a step lower than what Troy was offering.
A knock on the door at her back made her jump and rush to open it. She immediately regretted her hasty move when Joe came barging in.
“Did you know I’d be your employee when you met me last week?”
“Wha…no!”
“Don’t be so upset by the question, it’s a valid one.” It was a valid one but it didn’t take away any of her anger. The audacity of him to come barging in her office when she made it clear that she would be the one to schedule the one on one meeting and for him to question her like he was the boss and not her.
This is what sometimes happened when you came way too hard for a man, he begins to think he runs shit.
“It may be a valid one but for me, it’s not even a consideration. I had no idea who you were and I certainly didn’t think your name was really Joe.”
A look of disbelief.
“Why, because you wanted to play games, Chaka?”
“Yes. No. Look…”
He had her so flustered that she wanted to smack him but that would make an already bad situation worse. Not to mention even thinking about slapping him made her remember him slapping it, once, twice, and again and again.
“What I want to know is when I can see you again?”
“Never.” She said it a lot less forcefully than she wanted. She wanted to seem more in control than she was.
His brow went up as a challenge.
“Never,” she said more firmly.
“Why never?”
“You know why. I am your boss now and we need to forget anything ever happened between us.”
“But a lot happened between us and I can’t forget. Can you, Ms. Burnett?”
Even now, just looking at her mouth, made him stiffen in his trousers…an understandable response given her affinity for fellatio. He’d never been with a woman that seemed to enjoy giving it as much as a man loved to receive it. Watching her
practically swallow him whole, gag-reflex be damned, only to release and glide her tongue along the veins and contours of his dick, her hand constantly extending the
was granting. She was all-pro and he wanted more, but not just of that; but all of her.
“I can,” she said bringing him back to the present and he was right, dammit. She couldn’t forget any of it and bad girl Savanah wanted more of him inside of her at this very moment. Damn these rules!
“We’ll see,” was what he said right before leaving out of her office as quickly as he came in.
With her heart racing, she went and sat down before she fell down.
Savanah had to admit that even with this tiny exchange, she wanted him again. She wanted him to lock the door and place her across her desk and fuck her hard like he did last week. She wished it was after hours when no one else was around and it was just him and her, giving in to their passion. But that was all wrong and inappropriate and against the rules. Against even her rules, so she needed to let those thoughts go and figure out how to get a handle on the situation. This wasn’t at all like what happened with Troy. She or really, Troy had clearly been in the wrong. This was fixable.
She just needed to proceed on fresh ground. She hadn’t done anything wrong. Last week, she wasn’t his boss and there was no reason to think she couldn’t control herself around him. The man was fine, yes, and he had the hands of a wizard but she had been with good lovers in the past and was always able to move on from them.
This is what she told herself as she finished her day filled with more face-to-face meetings with her new team and one with her boss. That meeting should have made her more resolute in ridding her thoughts of Joe, but it didn’t and as she drove to her new three bedroom Victorian located in Edgewood, her thoughts went back to him.
He made her nervous. Even from the first moment, he threw her off a little because he seemed to be the type of man she could be happy with and when she thought she wouldn’t have to worry about being thrown off her plans to forget, he was right back in her face and in a position that made anything else happening impossible.
And why that would even bother her, bothered her even more. Savanah had spent most of her adult life, living it up. Having the type of fun that was only written about in chic lit books and in movies. She never wanted things to slow down until things were slowed down for her and still somehow, she thought that the fun would return and that was what Barbados had been about. It was about her not crawling into some cave somewhere withering away, even if she had wanted to momentarily. It was about doing what her heart still desired and at that moment, Joe was what she desired and had had him. She remembered him and wanted more. So when she came home, to an empty house with no prospects of fun in sight, she felt bereft.
