12 Days Of Christmas: Favorite Holiday Traditions

Hello everyone and thank you all so much for joining me on this journey during the 12 Days of Christmas event! I’m so excited to do this, so I hope you all are as well.

For the first day, I will be doing favorite holiday traditions, as I give you all some of my absolute favorites. These pastimes have helped me get into the holiday spirit, so I hope that some of these will help you all as well.

1.Decorating the Christmas Tree

Decorating the Christmas tree has been a tradition of mines since I was a little girl. Right after Thanksgiving, my family would come together and break out all of our ornaments and make an evening of sharing memories. I still keep this tradition going with my husband and son as we put up our favorite ornaments.

2. Listening to Christmas Music

Nothing gets me into the holiday spirit more than listening to Christmas music. From the Jackson 5 to The Temptations, I love hearing classic Christmas melodies while waiting on that special day to arrive. It just makes me feel good to hear those songs as it makes me think about the memories that I have with my mom and other special people throughout the years.

3. Watching Christmas Movies

I don’t know about you, but I love a great Christmas movie. I get excited when Hallmark or Lifetime preview their holiday movies, because I’ll definitely be glued to the TV watching every one of them with some cocoa or wine (depending on the type of mood I’m in).

4. Baking Christmas Cookies

I started this tradition when my son turned six when we would bake Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve. I love to bake sugar cookies and use red and green sprinkles to make different designs. It’s not only relaxing, but it’s fun because you get to eat them once they’re done.

5. Viewing Holiday Lights

I love a good light show, so I would find different ones throughout the city. My family and I recently went to The Light Park in Spring, which was interesting since they were a drive-thru light show. We plan to go to more throughout the holiday season, including Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo.

6. Spending Time With Friends and Family

This one is the best tradition of all. With my busy schedule, and with the virus still around us, I don’t get as much time to spend with my friends or immediate family as I should, but I would love nothing more than to go back to the days where I get to spend time with everyone. This is a tradition that I hope that we all can come back to very quickly.

So, there you have it. These are some of my favorite holiday traditions. Now that I’d shared mines, please feel free to share some of your favorite traditions in the Comments section.

Please come back to my blog tomorrow as I go into the second day of this great event.

Until next time everyone, have a wonderful day! 🙂
