Books I’ve Read This Summer

One thing I love to do besides write is read. I can’t go a day without finding a new book to read. Since the summer is almost over 😦 I wanted to share some of the books I’ve read and simply enjoyed. I won’t do a review for any of the books listed, but I will provide the blurb for each book.

Some of these books are on Goodreads, so make sure to add them to your To Read list.

Let’s Play Ball (Balls To The Walls Erotica Series) by Lolah Lace

Coach Mason Rizza is a loving husband and dedicated father. Then one day he experiences lust at first sight. He becomes infatuated with Kari, the mother of a kid on his little league baseball team.

Temptation, desire and curiosity lands Mason in a steamy affair with the woman of his dreams. After he takes Kari as his mistress, he is forced to lie to his family and neglect the life he once knew. When things spiral out of control, will Mason have the strength to make the right decision?

(There is a part 2 to the series, Line Of Scrimmage, which is available now).

Unexpected: A K-Pop Romance by Sarah G.

Noel Wright is stuck in Sin City, in a rut doing the same things and seeing the same people every day until a sexy stranger ordering dessert—and not just that on the menu—turns Noel’s predictable world upside down.

Kai, a member of a popular Korean pop group lives a charmed and glamorous life, surrounded by everything he could ever want and yet he feels empty and stuck. A chance meeting at a local casino diner sets his ordered world careening happily out of control as a luscious, full-figured waitress sends his closed heart into a tailspin.

When these two complete opposites meet, worlds collide and sparks fly and the world of K-Pop will never be the same again. But will a meddling uncle, an unforgiving public, a secret admirer, a jealous friend, and Kai’s unruly group mates bring the couple together or ultimately tear them apart?

(I really hope there’s a sequel to this story. Would love to see what Noel and Kai are up to!)

Romancing The R.A. by Ashelyn Drake

Noelle Buckman is looking forward to making a fresh start in college, one that doesn’t involve immature high school boys. The second she steps on campus for freshman orientation, she can sense the possibilities. Especially when she spots Andy, a resident adviser who’s not just hot but also thoughtful enough to open doors for a girl.

And Andy has his eye on Noelle. Even when her nerves take control and she thinks she comes off as a hillbilly with no direction, Andy can see what she’s really like and he’s more than a little interested.

But orientation is less than two full days and there’s an entire summer between Noelle and Andy. Will her attempt to romance the R.A. be as short-lived as college orientation?

(Loved this novella! Can’t wait for the second book of the Campus Crush series, Behind Closed Doors, available August 6th!)

Friends And Lovers: At Last by Denise Riley

When Jaylyn Marks wakes up naked in the bed of the best friend and roommate she has vowed never to become intimate with, she can’t believe she’s let herself become another name on the long list of women he’s slept with. Although she’s freaking out about the significant breach in the boundaries of their friendship, Dominick seems to be taking it all in stride. Jaylyn’s not sure whether to be relieved he’s so nonchalant about the fact they’re suddenly having sex or if she should be insulted by his casual attitude. Even though sharing something deeper with Dominick has been what she’s hoped for for a long time, the last thing Jaylyn wants is to lose his friendship if things don’t work out.

When death, family conflict, and a boyfriend who might find out about what they’ve been doing threatens Jaylyn’s peace of mind, can she and Dominick find a way to retain their friendship or will anger and confused feelings compromise everything they’ve always been to each other?

(This book had a lot of twists and turns that definitely had me surprised throughout!)

Second Chance Boyfriend by Monica Murphy

Lost. Everything in my life can be summed up by that one sickening word. My football coach blames me for our season-ending losses. So does the rest of the team. I wasted two whole months drowning in my own despair, like a complete loser. And I lost my girlfriend—Fable Maguire, the only girl who ever mattered—because I was afraid that being with me would only hurt her.

But now I realize that I’m the one who’s truly lost without her. And even though she acts like she’s moved on and everything’s fine, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. I know her too well. She’s so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is be there to help her . . . to hold her . . . to love her.

I just need her to give me one more chance. We may be lost without each other, but together, we’re destined to find a love that lasts forever.

(I cried after reading this book. It was that good!)

Blurred Lines by Breena Wilde

Twenty-year-old Cadence is a prostitute and she lives by the rules. They keep her alive, and they keep her heart protected. But when she agrees to take one last job to get out from under her pimp, she discovers some of the rules might be worth breaking.

(This story definitely kept me interested. It’s a 6-part series, with part 2 and 3 out now).

Love Love by Beth Michele

Gabrielle Willis is smart. She’s funny. And oh yes, she’s a bit klutzy. When Gabrielle left sunny California bound for the energy of Manhattan, she was willingly leaving the life she had known for the new life she would create. But was she really leaving something behind or was she running away? On the outside, Gabrielle Willis has it all under control. A new life in Manhattan, a great roommate, and a good job. But she is haunted. Haunted by a memory she’s tried to forget and by a family who’s abandoned her. But what happens when what’s on the outside is only an illusion and in perfect contradiction to what’s buried deep within? Enter Dane Rhodes. He’s gorgeous, smart, and sexy as hell. Just what Gabby wants, or so she thinks. But when she meets Brad Dixon, the sweet guy with the crooked smile, he begins to make her see that the very thing she is trying to run from is the very thing that just may push her to see the light.

(Another book that made me cry due to a HEA. Loved it!)

Trying Not To Love You by Megan Smith

MacKenzie Cahill has dealt with overbearing and overprotective brothers her entire life, making it near impossible to enjoy her teenage years. Having a boyfriend was practically impossible until she met a guy that wasn’t afraid to stand up to them – Dominic. He was sweet, thoughtful, and everything MacKenzie ever wanted in a man. But when they go away to college at Old Dominion University, MacKenzie sees a whole new side of Dominic and begins to wonder if he really is different from every other guy. Her world is turned upside down after a party, and her brothers’ best friend Hunter is the one there to offer her a shoulder to cry on. The chemistry between them is electric, and feelings for each other that have been hidden for years are finally voiced. Is Hunter willing to be disloyal to his best friends in order to be with the one girl he’s always secretly wanted?

(The second book, Easy To Love You, is available now)

Sinful by Bella Vaughn

Bethany King is almost 20, but feels trapped in the small town of Medburg and, even more so, in her own home, under the constant watch of her God-fearing mother. She is literally counting down the days until she goes off to college and gets the chance to become her own person.

Bethany feels a tension between them straight away, but what neither she nor her mother know, is that charismatic 30 year old pastor has his own dark secret, potentially one that could bring his promising career undone.

(Read this book in 2 hrs today. Really good. There are 3 parts, but was recently combined into a full length novel. Part 1 is free on Amazon today).
