Monica walked into her apartment, hoping Donnell doesn’t come home soon because she needed a moment of peace. She just took a grueling test in her psychology class, so she needed a moment to clear her head and not have to worry about him talking to her.
She looked around, shaking her head at how disarray the living room looked. From the time she has known Donnell, he has never been this unorganized; but since they have been living together, he barely cleaned up his mess, which was another issue she had with him. She grabbed a pen on the coffee table and moved a pair of dirty socks from the couch.
“He’s disgusting.” she said.
A fit of rage went through her as she began picking up some of his items. Instead of throwing them in the hamper near the bathroom, she went to the door and threw them outside. Some of his clothes landed on the stairs and on the grass. She went back and forth between the door and the living room, throwing out his clothes and shoes. She wasn’t anyone’s maid, so she refused to clean up after him.
In the middle of her tyrant, her phone was ringing. She went to it and saw it was her mom calling.
“Hey Mom.” Monica said while continuing to move.
“Hi sweetie. I was calling to see if you were free this afternoon? I had a business meeting in the area of the university, so I wanted to stop by and grab some lunch.”
Monica sighed as she dumped the last of Donnell’s items on the stairs. She looked over at her neighbor, who was giving her a crazed look. She rolled her eyes at her and went back inside.
“Mom, I know you’re not in the area for a meeting. Just admit you want to check up on me.”
“I’m telling the truth, Mon. But I do want to check on you. I know we haven’t talked much since the break.”
“I know, but I’m fine. You don’t have to check on me.”
“I’m your mom, that’s what I do.”
Monica looked to the window and saw Donnell coming toward the apartment. He had a surprised look on his face as he started to pick up his clothes. “Okay, we can meet for lunch. We can meet at the Italian place in Baker.”
“Sounds great. See you there in 15 minutes.”
Once Monica said bye, she disconnected the call. The door opened, revealing an angry Donnell on the doorstep.
“What the hell is going on?! Why is my stuff outside?”
“That’s for not cleaning up. I am not a maid, so you need to put your things back where they were.”
“Sorry if I haven’t been doing my share of the housework, but I have been working to pay for this apartment. Not only that but I do have a full courseload, so cut me some slack.”
Monica glared at him and went into the kitchen.
“Is there something else that is going on? If so, tell me.”
She walked back into the living room with her keys and purse.
“I don’t have anything else to say. Just clean up before I come back.”
Before he could say another word, she slammed the door and was down the stairs.
Maybe she needed some time with her mom, because at this point, she can’t take anymore of Donnell.
Maybe it’s best to pack up my things and leave.
*** As soon as Britney and Shawn went into her bedroom, their clothes were immediately off and on the floor as they were on her bed. Her legs were around Shawn as he was enjoying every part of her body. He surprised himself with the way he was kissing and touching her. At one point, he thought Riana was going to be the only woman he would be with, but now that reality is gone. Now, he was about to be the person he vowed he would never be again, which at this point, he was having a lot of fun being.
He held Britney, feeling her soft skin against him. She panted as he swirled his tongue around her nipple, giving it a little bite. She gripped the sheets, giving a tiny moan as he continued to touch her body.
Just the little gesture from Britney made him think about the way Riana would be during their love making. The moans she would give, the way she bit her lip when he went down on her. Now, he couldn’t get her out of his mind, which was killing his mood right now. Britney noticed the sudden change as she look at him.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
He stared ahead at the headboard, clearly confused to what he was doing. He wanted to be with Britney, but he’s still in love with Riana. He couldn’t embark on something he knew wasn’t right.
“I’m just thinking about something.”
“That has to stop.” she said. She got up from underneath Shawn and put him on his back. She straddled him while staring into his eyes.
“Let me make you think about something else, like me making you feel good.” she whispered.
She slid her body down toward his waist. She knew he was thinking about Riana, so she has to do something that would make him forget about her. Shawn gave a nervous glance as he watched Britney about to pleasure him. Instead of staring at her, he saw Riana in front of him, giving him a beautiful smile as she touched his chest.
“You are the only person I want to be with. Now and forever.” she said, as she put her lips to his.
He blinked his eyes several times, not knowing if he was going to start bawling. He hated to cry, but right now, the girl he fell in love with hurt him so bad that was all he could do. No matter how sexy Britney looked at that moment, he knew he couldn’t go through with it.
“I can’t do this.” he said.
He gently pushed Britney off of him and went to pick his clothes up from the floor.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“I can’t be with you like this. Just because our significant others fucked up doesn’t mean we have to.”
“It would be so much fun though.” she said with a smile.
“Maybe for you, but for me, it would be a huge mistake.” he said.
He put his clothes back on and went to the living room. He grabbed his keys from the couch and went to the door. He got into his car, staring at the apartment door wondering if he should go back in and finished what they started, but he couldn’t. He wasn’t going to be with someone on the rebound, especially if his feelings were somewhere else.
He got into the driver’s seat and put his head on the steering wheel. The plan he has to expose Marcus and Riana came into his mind. Even though that would make him feel better for a second, it still wouldn’t take away the pain he’s experiencing right now. He lost his brother and his girlfriend, and not even revenge would make it any better.
He shook his head and started up the car. He needed to figure out what he should do, because there was no way he was going to continue to feel this way.
*** After the little scare she had earlier, Cheryl asked if she could leave work early. She knew she was cutting her hours, but she probably needed to rest. Once she told Chris she was leaving, he followed her to her apartment, and now he was making her an early dinner.
She was looking forward to her being with Chris. She really has missed him during their time apart, so she was looking forward to making up for lost time.
She walked into her small kitchen and noticed him making spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. She went up to him, giving him a kiss before going to the refrigerator. She didn’t know what she was thinking when she was having feelings for Devin. She glad she was able to come to her senses because she could have lost what she had with Chris.
She began to think about Riana and her feelings for Marcus. She hasn’t talk to her in a couple of days, so hopefully she’s doing okay and is using her head and making good decisions.
“I missed this.” she said as she went to the table.
“I missed this too; being with you. I’m glad we were able to work things out.” Chris said.
“Me too. I will never mess up like that again.”
“You better not.” Chris jokingly said, but Cheryl knew he wasn’t. He didn’t have anything to worry about.
They brought their meals to the table, said grace and was about to dig in when there was a knock at the door.
“Who is that?” she asked.
Chris gave a shrug as he began to eat.
Cheryl got up from the table and went to the door. She was little surprised to see Shawn standing at her doorstep.
“Hey Shawn. What are you doing here?”
“Hey Cher. Chris mentioned he might be here. Is he, because I went by his room but he wasn’t there?”
“Yeah, he’s here. Come in.” she said.
She glanced at him, realizing from the expression he had on his face that something was wrong.
“Hey, what’s up?” Chris asked while looking at Shawn.
“Can we talk alone, please?”
Cheryl looked at Chris and nodded.
“I’ll be back.” Chris said.
“Sure. I’ll be waiting.” she said.
She gave him a kiss, which made Shawn a little irritated.
The two walked out of the apartment and headed outside. Chris continued to look at Shawn, who didn’t look like himself at the moment.
“What’s wrong? You seemed kind of out of it.”
Shawn stopped walking and glanced toward the blue sky.
“Everything in my life is messed up. The two people I thought were close to me screwed me over by screwing each other.”
Chris stared at Shawn with a shock expression.
“Are you joking right now?”
“Does it look like I am?”
“Damn, bro. I’m sorry. How did you find out?”
When Shawn was telling Chris his suspicions, as soon as he mentioned Dominque, he rolled his eyes.
“Are you really going to believe Dominique?”
“You know her? You didn’t act like you did at the bowling alley.”
She not’s worth knowing. He thought.
“I know of her. She’s not someone to be trusted.”
“Right now, she’s the only one who I can. She told me the truth about my no good brother and my cheating girlfriend. Besides, I found something of Riana’s at the apartment today.”
“So, she could have left it there when she was visiting you.”
“It was a gift I gave her a couple of days ago and I haven’t been there in two days.”
“Damn. So what are you going to do?”
“There’s something I want to do, but I need your help. And you can’t tell Cheryl about this because she will blab it to Riana.”
“Seriously? You know I can’t do that. We just got through our own issues. How would that look if I was lying to her after I just told her not to?”
“Whatever you two just went through is not as bad as this.”
“You’ll be surprised.”
“Did Cheryl fuck your brother? If not, then it’s not that bad.”
“I don’t have a brother.” He said and smiled.
Shawn gave him a look reading “don’t play with me”.
Chris sighed.
“You’re asking for a lot Shawn.”
“Fine, I’ll just do it all myself.”
“What is your plan?” he interrupted.
“You know Ri’s birthday is in May, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Anyway, I plan on throwing her a birthday party for her. I’ll invite all of her friends and family, shower her with love and affection, and then I’ll expose her ass.”
“That’s harsh Shawn.”
“I’m going to tell everyone that thinks she’s so sweet and innocent how much of a whore she is.”
“You really need to think about this. Not only are you hurting her, but you’re kind of hurting yourself.”
“How am I hurting myself?” “Because you know revenge is not a way to solve your problems. Just let it go.”
“No, because those two are going behind my back, sleeping with each other without a care in the world and think it’s okay. They going to get what they deserve and if I have to do it in public, then so be it.”
“So you’re going to let them sweat it out?”
“Yeah. I’m sure Marcus has an idea I know, but he’s probably wondering when I’m going to go off. Trust me, he won’t know what hit him when I finally do.”
Chris stared at Shawn, wondering who this person in front of him was. He knew this was hurting him, because he would never do something like this. “Just think about this before you do it, because once you do, you can’t take it back.”
“What’s to take back? Everything is ruined between the three of us. There’s nothing left to savage.”
He turned around and went toward the parking lot, leaving Chris standing on the sidewalk in shock. If Shawn was going to do what he planned, he was wondering what else was he capable of.
