Happy Monday!! Hope you all had a great weekend. Here’s chapter 9. 🙂
On the other side of town, people were waiting in a long line to get into Club Liquid, the hottest place in town. When Sophia and Layla walked in, they noticed how packed the club was and found the nearest table nearby the bar.
“Dang, this place is jumpin tonight.” Sophia said while sitting down in a chair.
“Practically everyone in Houston is here tonight.” Layla agreed.
When another song came on, Sophia and Layla started dancing in their seats. A hand went across Sophia’s shoulder. She looked over and seen James standing beside her.
“What do you want, James?”
“I was wondering if you would like to dance. I know this is one of your favorite songs.”
“No, James, I don’t want to dance. In fact, I don’t even want to talk to you. Now, go away.”
“Sophia, I don’t know what’s going on, but please don’t shut me out.”
Sophia laughed. “Please, James. I know what you and Natalie did to break me and Patrick up. As I can see you two would go to any lengths to break us up.”
“I’m sorry you had to find out that way, but it was for your own good.”
“Why is that?”
“Patrick was no good for you. You deserve so much better than him.”
“And you’re so perfect for me? Get out of my face.”
“Sophia, you know you want to be with me. We’re so good together and you know that.”
“Maybe when we were together, James. Now, I know we’re not and never will be. My heart is with someone else and it will always be with him. So I suggest you move on and find someone who will be what Patrick is to me. My soul mate.”
Patrick, Aiden, and two other guys walked into the front entrance of Club Liquid. They walked over to the bar and looked around.
“This place is packed tonight. So many fine women are in here it’s a shame.” Patrick’s friend mentioned.
Patrick looked around the club to see if Sophia was there. Aiden looked at him.
“Looking for Sophia?”
“Yeah. I know she’s here.”
“Why don’t you look for her. It’s not a big club, so you will eventually see her.”
Patrick smiled and started to walk away from his friend.
While Patrick was looking for Sophia, she was still trying to get James away from her. James stuffed his hands in his pockets and sighed.
“Patrick’s the one, huh?”
Sophia nodded.” Yeah, he is. I’m deeply, madly in love with him.”
“Well, what can I say? I see that you and I have no future together, so I guess I should back off.”
Layla looked at James and rolled her eyes. Sophia looked at James and sighed.
“Why don’t you step, James and find some hood rat to dance with.” Layla said.
“Mind your business, Layla.” James said before looking back at Sophia.
“I guess I should go, but I do have one thing to say. I meant what I said before when I said that I will always love you.”
“Don’t make me throw up.” Layla mumbled.
“And if love prevails, then anything is possible.” James continued. He went up to Sophia and kissed her.
When Patrick finally found Sophia, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing as Sophia and James were kissing. He went over to the two and cleared his throat. The two pulled apart and Sophia jumped up to stare at Patrick.
“I guess I know who you want to be with.” Patrick said.
“Patrick, please listen…”
“I’m tired of listening. I’m done.” He said and walked off.
Sophia was about to go after Patrick, but James grabbed her arm.
“Don’t go.”
She shrugged herself from James and went after Patrick.
Layla glanced at James. “Haven’t you done enough?” she asked and went after Sophia.
James looked at the table and pounded his fist on it. Several people turned to stare at him.
“Mind your business!” he exclaimed.
Patrick sped past the bar when Aiden caught up with him.
“What happened?”
Patrick didn’t answer as he headed to the exit.
“Patrick, wait!” Sophia exclaimed.
When Layla past Aiden, he quickly grabbed her arm.
“What’s going on?”
“Another encounter by James. Patrick saw the two kissing, but he got the wrong impression.”
Aiden sighed. “We have to put those two back together and get those jerks out of their lives for good.”
“I agree. I don’t think I can see Sophia so miserable again. Those two are perfect for each other.”
“I know. I think I have an idea, though.” Aiden said.
“And what is that?”
“Follow me and I’ll tell you.”
And the two went to the dance floor.
***
Patrick was walking out of the club when someone grabbed him by the waist.
“Where are you going in such a hurry?”
Patrick turned around and saw Natalie standing behind him.
“I really don’t need this tonight.” Patrick mumbled.
“What’s wrong? Do you want to talk about it?”
“No, I don’t. In fact, do me a favor and leave me alone.” Patrick said and walked away.
“It’s that bitch, isn’t it? Did she hurt you again?”
“She’s not a bitch, Natalie. And no, she didn’t. Just mind your business, okay.”
“Patrick, don’t you see that we belong together? Even when we were talking, it was meant to be. I know it wasn’t our time then because we were with other people, but life is all about chances and this is our chance now.”
“What about Thomas? I thought you was with him?”
“Thomas is not the one I want to be with; you are,” Natalie said. She started to caress his cheek with her hand. “I love you, Patrick.”
Patrick took Natalie’s hand away from him. “Don’t ever say that again.”
“Why not? I would never hurt you like she did. I would treat you right and you know it. You’re just scared to take a risk.”
“Natalie, when will you get it? I don’t have any feelings for you. I didn’t before and I don’t now. How many times do I have to say it? Now please leave me alone!”
Natalie slowly pulled away from him with tears in her eyes.
“Natalie, I didn’t mean to hurt you, but you have to understand I never had feeling for you; especially now. I’m in love with Sophia and I always will be. I’m flattered that you have feelings for me, but I don’t have them in return. I’m sorry.”
Natalie wiped the tears from her cheeks and smiled. “I get you now. You made your feelings about me loud and clear.”
“I know you will find someone who is perfect for you, but if you think I’m the one, then I’m not.”
“I guess you’re right. We will never be together. Sophia is a very lucky woman.”
“Nah, Natalie, I’m the lucky one.”
Natalie gave Patrick a smirk and extended her arms out to him for a hug. Sophia walked near the club doors to see the two hugging. She shook her head and started to turn around when Patrick saw her.
“Sophia.”
She didn’t even answer as she made her way back inside.
“I have to go. I need to straighten things out now before it’s too late.” He said to Natalie.
He ran back towards the club, leaving Natalie standing by the door. She looked at Patrick trying to catch up to Sophia and sighed.
“I hope you find what you’re looking for, Patrick.”
