Re-Release: Unplanned Love by Alithea-Jae Smith

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! The re-release for Unplanned Love by Alithea-Jae Smith is available NOW on Amazon! The story is about Maya and Quad as they find love in the most unusual way.

This is Alithea’s second book, but is the first book in The McKnight Brothers series.

Check out the synopsis below:

Quad McKnight can have any woman he wants, but a night of passion leads him to Maya “MJ’ Fox.

Maya ‘MJ’ Fox isn’t looking for a relationship, but a single act of kindness leads her to a lifetime decision with Quad.

Along the way of their new found relationship, Quad’s ex Jasmine doesn’t make things easy for the two by turning their lives completely upside down.

Will Quad and Maya be able to find happiness together, or will their issues cause them to end their unplanned love?

Here is an excerpt from the book, which is the prologue:

It was a Thursday night and Quad was leaving The Stadium Sport Bar & Grill. He had just left his brothers whom he met up with for around of drinks. As Quad walked to his car, he noticed a woman trying to change her car tire. He walked toward her and tried his best not to frighten her as he walked slowly.

She pitched, “Oh, my word!” She almost lost her balance, but Quad was able to catch her.

“Are you okay?” he asked with a hint of concern in his voice.

She shook her head. “Yes, I’m okay. You just scared the hell out of me.”

He gave her a half smile. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“That’s okay.”

Quad looked around and saw that she had the jack out and one lug nut. He thought to himself, she didn’t do too bad because it’s clear that she has an idea on how to change a tire. Probably more than most women knew how to.

“Okay, it’s looks like you started to change the tire already.”

“Yeah, but I’ve only been able to get one of those round things off. Also, I’m hot as hell,”

she said softly, looking down at her nails. Quad laughed. He agreed with her one hundred percent because it was close to ninety degrees tonight.

“I see that, however, it’s not bad at all. I’ll finish changing the tire for you” he said, reaching for the jack.

The woman placed her hand up. “Hold on, wait a minute! Before you start changing anything, what’s your name?”

The woman needed to know the basic facts about this very handsome man who was about to change her car tire. Where does he live, his occupation, his blood type, is he single or married? Then, she thought maybe she should call her best friends Elle or Rashaun, so she could keep them on the line.

“My bad, my name is Quad,” he said, extending his right hand.

“Nice to meet you Quad, I’m MJ,” she said, shaking his hand.

He held her hand for a moment; he felt something between them, but he couldn’t explain it. He was curious what MJ stood for.

“It’s nice to meet you too, MJ. If it makes you feel any better, you can call someone while I change the tire. It shouldn’t take me more than twenty minutes, if that long.” He studied her face, realizing she looked familiar, but he wasn’t sure from where but that wasn’t important right now.

“Oh, that won’t be necessary. I’m a pretty good judge of character,” she said.

Quad stood about six feet tall with a dark complexion and dark brown eyes and hair, which was closely cropped to his scrap. MJ could also tell that he was a member of a fraternity but couldn’t tell which one because it was too dark to make out his ring.

He looked familiar to her, as he favored Levi McKnight the attorney. Then again, she could be wrong because he could be his nephew or something because the McKnight family was sizable.

“Okay, I’m also a pretty good judge myself,” Quad said as he started to change the tire.

He could tell she just came from work by the way she was dressed. However, he wondered why she was out here changing her tire by herself. Didn’t she have a boyfriend or brother she could have called? Then again, it wasn’t his business.

He knew if he was her man, it’s no way in hell she would be out here this time of night changing her own tire, especially in this heat.

MJ played with her phone while Quad finished changing her tire. She started to wonder what would have happened if Quad didn’t show up. MJ knew she would probably still be struggling to change it. For the life of her, her roadside assistance call wouldn’t go through, so she made a mental note to call and email them about it.

“All done, Miss MJ,” Quad said and placed the tire in the back trunk. He finally got a good look at her; first thing that came to his mind was that she was beautiful.

MJ stood about five feet-three-inches-tall, had smooth mocha complexion, with hazel eyes, and golden brownish hair, which she wore in a bun. She had high cheekbones and dimples on both side of her cheeks.

“Thank you so much, Quad. I don’t know what I would have done without you,” she said.

“You’re most welcome beautiful,” he said and helped her into her car.

“Thanks once again.”

“No big deal. I know you don’t know me from a can of paint, but I want you to message me once you get home. I would feel much better,” Quad said.

Honestly, he didn’t know what got into him; she could be married with three kids waiting for her at home.

Maya arched her eyebrow. “That’s not necessary, Quad. I’ll be fine, I’m a big girl,” she said as she handed him her cell phone.

She knew he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. Besides, she felt he was harmless; that’s what her gut was telling her.

“It’s necessary, Maya,” he said as he put his number into her cell phone.

When their hands touched once again, it felt like electric. He held onto her hand for a few minutes before letting it go. Quad looked into her hazel eyes; it was like a spell of desire was unleashed because all he wanted to do was kiss her, but he fought it as quickly as possible.

“I’ll let you go now.”

“Thanks again Quad. I’ll make sure to message you once I’m home,” she said with a smile.

“You’re most welcome.”

Quad waited until he could no longer see the taillights of her car before getting into his own. On the drive home, he kept looking at his cell phone to see if MJ had messaged him. It usually took him twenty –five minutes for him to get home, but he got there in twenty-minutes with great anticipation. Still, no message from MJ. He wasn’t stressing if she didn’t message him.

MJ pulled into the drive way of her three -story home. She picked up her cell phone to looked for Quad’s number to message him:

Once again thanks. I’m home safe and sound.

Just as Quad came out of the shower, he checked his phone. A sense of relief came through him when he saw a message from her.

You’re most welcome. I’m glad you’re home safe and sound. Good Night, MJ…
